These tortoises are commonly found in Russia, Azerbaijan, North Western China, Ukraine, Kazakhstan, Turkmenistan, Afghanistan, Pakistan etc. It is important for owner to provide healthy and good amount of food to his Russian tortoise to make them survive for long.

Russian tortoises are herbivores animals that require healthy and good amount of food to flourish. Nutrition that are essential for Russian tortoise are fiber, protein, vitamins, and minerals. It is important for owner to provide nutritious food to his tortoise. The best way to ensure that your pet is getting all the required nutrients you should feed him a varied diet. Feeding them with a variety of foods will not only keep them healthy, but also they will eat happily. The best food you can provide your Russian tortoise is a variety of leafy greens, including chicory, clover, dandelion, and thistle.

If you feed your tortoise a limited quantity, you should feed it every day. Overfeeding is not a problem, as long as you are feeding Russian tortoise with a variety of low-nutrient plants. You should feed them either in the morning and late afternoon because Russian tortoises are active during that period of time.

Russian tortoises mostly like to have Hibiscus flowers and leaves, Hosta, Sedum, Mulberry leaves, Hen and Chicks, Ice Plants, Prickly pear flowers, fruit and pads, Dandelion, Plantain, Mallow flowers and leaves, Henbit, Rose flowers and leaves, Chrysanthemum flowers and Forsythia flowers and leaves

Vegetable for Russian tortoise:

You should feed green vegetable to your pet Russian tortoise. Greens such as Romaine lettuce, Red and green leaf lettuce, Endive, Escarole, Radicchio, Chicory, Turnip greens, Mustard greens, Kale, Collards, Spring Mix and cabbage are easy to get from nearby store and are healthy for Russian tortoise.

Food that should not be offered to Russian tortoise:

There are some foods that should not be served to Russian tortoise. You should avoid Feeding Iceberg lettuce, Bok Choy, All grains, bread, pasta, fruits which contain high amount of sugar, Dog and cat food, Meat to your Russian tortoise. Feeding these foods to your Russian tortoise can lead to several health problems to your tortoise.

Water is equally important for pet Russian tortoise. You should provide clean and fresh water to your Russian tortoise to keep them healthy. The water should be served in large shallow dish so that they can drink it without any difficulty. You should feed your Russian tortoise with a balanced diet to ensure its healthy growth. Food that is offered to Russian tortoise should be clean and fresh. The dishes and enclosure of Russian tortoise should be regularly clean in order to avoid bacterial growth
