Let the recipe get cool and then store it in the refrigerator. Remember; do not store it for more than a couple of weeks.

  3. Note that you can depart from the above given ratio, according to the requirement. In fact, in the wintertime you may need to add more sugar to boost the energy content of the mix.

  1. Be sure to use a real sugar not the artificial sweeteners. The artificial sweeteners have “low calorie,” which means they do not have nutritional value and will not provide any nutritional value to your loving birds.
  2. Avoid using honey, as it has different sugars and it tends the humming bird food to ferment quicker.
  3. Natural nectar or humming bird food is odorless and clear. There fore, there is no need to add coloring (red) to mix in the food. The color of the humming bird feeder should be enough to attract your humming birds.
  4. However, after you have made the humming bird food to fill in bird feeder, it is very necessary that you clean your humming bird feeder before filling it.

If you decide to put the humming bird feeders in your yard, try to keep them full and clean. The humming birds will get used to find a food source in your yard. When the natural nectar resources are hard to find, they will come to your bird feeder for food.
