- First, you will need is a milk jug of around 1 gallon. Wash this jug thoroughly and ensure that you remove all the signs of milk residue. Put on the cap and keep the milk jug right side up on the surface area.
- Now, cut few large holes, which are around 3 to 4 inch in diameter on two of adjacent sides of the jug. These should be opposite of the handles. Make sure that you cut these holes in the middle portion on the higher side, so that the seeds do not spill out when filling it with seeds.
- Use of large nails is done to punch holes into the jug. Insert a rod into this hole, which the birds can utilize for perching. This perch should be of enough length and at least of two inches so that it makes a comfortable perching spot.
- You can use a large nail and punch two holes in the neck of the jug. These holes should be around one inch just below the cap. Use the long piece of wire to pass through these holes. Twist this hole round the caps properly.
- Now, all you need to do is fill the bird feeder with various appropriate seeds and use this wire to hang the bird feeder at the appropriate spot.
