Alternanthera sessilis
A red-leaved, semi-aquatic plant which grows well completely submerged.Stems are woody and heavily branched, with spear-shaped leaves up to 7.5cm (3in) long. The stems are red and the undersides of the leaves intensely red. A. sessilis usually deteriorates after a few months, first shedding its leaves. Propagates easily from cuttings. No special water requirements, but prefers cool temperatures.
