Anatolian Shepherd




Large, impressive and fiercely loyal, the Anatolian Shepherd is an exceptional guuard dog. With highly developed protective instincts, extraordinary speed and agility, this breed has been used by Turkidsh shepherds for centuries to protect sheep and goats fro mpredators. Having lived for many years in relative isolation, the modern dog remains largely unchanged from its ancestors.

While the Anatolian Shepherd is gentle and affectionate with its human family, it is usually reserved with strangers. Given the extensive attention and socialization Anatolian Shepherds, require, ownership of this breed calls for responsibility and commitment.

ANATOLIAN SHEPHERD BREED CHARACTERISTICS

Size: Males ideally 29 inches, Females ideally 27 inches (at the withers).

Appearance: Large, rectangular, rugged body with powerful motion,.

Coat and Color: Short, rough coat, with a longer “ruff” around the neck. All colors, patterns and markings are equally acceptable.

Head: Broad skull with a square muzzle; medium-seized, almond-shaped, wide-set, amber to dark brown eyes;v-shaped, hanging, rounded ears.

Tail: Long, slightly curved.
