The enclosure should not have any areas where the baby turtle can get struck. Make sure that the enclosure is safe for your baby turtle. Efficient water filter and water heater should be there in the enclosure to ensure a regular supply of fresh water. You should keep a bowl of drinking water outside the tank. It is important for you to maintain cleanliness in your baby turtle enclosure in order to make it survive for long.
2. Food for baby turtle: Healthy and proper amount of diet is essential for baby turtle. Proteins are an essential part of the diet of the baby turtle. Proteins with lots of green vegetable are a best option to serve a baby turtle. If you are feeding worms to turtle hatchlings then ensure that you use only farm raised worms and not the wild ones. Mealworms and waxworms are good for baby turtles as they are soft and chewable. Insect such as ants, flies etc should be avoided as it can prove fatal for the baby turtle.
3. Cleaning baby turtle: It is important for you to maintain cleanliness in your pet baby turtle enclosure. You shouldn’t leave uneaten food to spoil or you will wind up with a sick baby turtle. Clean and fresh water should be served to baby turtle. You should rinse your turtle with warm water after you feed it so that he does not have leftovers of food on him that could make it ill. If you don’t have a filtration system in your turtle enclosure then you should clean the enclosure daily and even with a filtration system, you should change the water in every 15 days.
4. Handling baby turtle: Since the shell of a baby turtle is delicate, therefore you should keep a proper eye when lifting or holding a baby turtle. Inappropriate handling of baby turtle may be lethal or terribly agonizing for a baby turtle. Baby turtle should be lift with both of your hands.
