Diet for Reducing the Risk of Liver Diseases
One of the main reasons behind the occurrence of liver diseases is feeding of the pet dogs with commercialized packed foods in large quantities. The liver related diseases may lead to the feeling of lethargy, loss of weight, loss of appetite and vomiting tendency. The dog would be seen vomiting out of yellow foam and yellowish stools. It would also be vulnerable to frequent infestations of flea and ring worm. If attacked by jaundice the white part of the eyes would appear to be yellow, passing of tea colored urine and the condition of ascites or accumulation of water inside the abdomen.
You are recommended to consult a vet doctor while preparing the diet of your pet. He would advise you to include food items that would have the right balance of nutrients. The food should ideally be free from preservatives and chemicals. It should contain lean meat, raw vegetables, cooked whole grains along with low amounts of fats.
Instead of commercialized food packets you must feed your pet mainly on homemade food items. Offer meal three to four times in a day but in small quantities. Feeding your dog with one or two large meals may not be healthy. You may give cottage cheese and eggs to eat but apart from sour items like yogurt, kefir no other milk products should be given to eat.
In case your dog is suffering from any liver related disease you are advised to include oil as less as possible. You may include vitamin E to the diet. The dog can also be given a mixture containing measured quantities of yeast, kelp or trace mineral powder, lecithin, bone meal, calcium lactate, calcium gluconate and bran.
Give filtered water for drinking. Do not provide the tap water and it would be ideal for your pet to recover from the liver disease if given to drink barley water from time to time.
