Like humans, turtles also suffer from various diseases. One should consult vetererian if he finds any kind of change in their pet turtle daily activity. Turtle diseases can be caused due to several reasons but mainly it occurs due to unhygienic environment. Therefore it is essential for one to provide clean and safe environment to their pet turtle. There are lost of diseases that are found in turtle and it is difficult to explain each disease here therefore, some of the common turtle diseases are mentioned below with their respective symptoms and treatments.

Diseases of a turtle:

1. Algae growth in turtle: turtle that spend their large amount of time in water, usually suffers form the problem of algae growth. Large amount of algae growth on your turtle can cause severe problem to your pet turtle whereas small amount of algae growth doesn’t cause any problem. One can easily remove the algae form its pet by keeping the affected area under warm water and then gently wipe it away. It is important for one to keep their turtle environment clean in order to avoid algae growth.

2. Bladder stones in turtle: it is one of the common diseases that are found in turtles. This disease is caused due to uric acid. It is advisable to take your pet to vetererian if he is suffering form this disease. The common signs of this disease are difficulty with urination, or trouble in walking. If your turtle exhibits these signs then you should immediately take your pet turtle to vet.

3. Eye problems in turtle: Turtles usually suffer from lots of eye problems. Their eye can get infected with various infections, therefore it is essential for one to provide clean environment to their pet turtle. These problems are difficult to treat even by a veterinarian. If you found any kind of change in your turtle’s eyes then you should get it checked with veterinarian.

4. Salmonella in turtle: it is one of the common diseases that are found in turtles. One should get this cure soon as this can be transmitted to humans. It is essential for one to provide clean environment to their turtle in order to prevent it from this disease.

5. Drowning in turtle: it is important for one to properly designed enclosure to your pet in order to eliminate this disease. One should provide dry place to aquatic turtles because at times they can be tired or unable to swim.
