Dog Acupuncture

Dog AcupunctureAnimal acupuncture or acupressure was developed mainly as a mode of therapy for horses. In China horses were very useful for warfare in olden days and acupuncture was found to be effective as well as quite economic form of treatment. Later on the therapy was developed for useful domestic firm animals like cows, buffaloes, pigs, chicken, sheep, camels and such. Though the Chinese did not feel important to develop the acupuncture remedy for dogs and cats, the therapy became very popular in Eastern Europe and United States for treating ailing dogs and cats.

According to the science of acupuncture there are fourteen major medians or energy channels in the body of an animal, be it a dog or a human being. Based at these energy channels there are about one thousand reflex points. With careful selection the reflex points can be stimulated. The finger pressure on these points is known as the acupressure. The therapy works through electronic or etheric signals and automatic nervous systems.

Acupuncture increases blood circulation of the body. It also decreases inflammation, helps in secretion of endorphins or natural pain relievers, brings relief from muscle spasms, stimulation of nerves, promoting healthy immune system and release of hormones. The process of acupuncture also helps in release of positive substances in the brain and the spinal chord regions.
