Dog Boils Treatment
Both cats and dogs can suffer from the growth of skin boils. Though not fatal in nature but their repeated incidence may deteriorate their general health. In most cases the boils are the result of the intrusion of staph bacteria through wounds or fissures formed by scratches during fights or rigorous physical exercise.
The boil is generally characterized by a red swollen surface. As the growth of the boil advances the infected dog suffers from great deal of pain. In case of the formation of carbuncles or deep rooted boils your pet may even feel lethargic and seek to rest. The fur on the affected area may also disappear and damage the physical appearance of your dear pet. The following boil remedies may help your dog to recover from the bacterial infection.
- In case you find your dog to be suffering from a boil infection which is accompanied by high fever, you should make your dog undergo a detoxifying fast. Offer liquids to eat instead of solids. Serve your pet with lemon juice and aloe vera juice as they work as good laxatives and detoxifiers.
- Apply hot compressions and medicated poultices for at least 15 minutes on a regular basis. Make sure that the compressions are not very hot as this can rather burn the skin of your dog.
- Apply solution of half table spoon of salt or boric acid added to one cup of boiled water or castor oil, tea tree oil on the infected wound. Prepare a poultice comprising of a mixture of smashed garlic, onion and heated slices of lemon.
Bandage the wound only after all the impurities and the pus is entirely drained out as otherwise the infection may spread further. Take care of your dog by maintaining proper hygiene.
