Dog diseases
Dogs are very receptive in nature and easily get affected by a number of ailments. Generally, the cause of Dog disease is insufficient care. Since there are lots of dogs’ diseases, and it’s impossible to mention all of them here. Therefore, some common afflictions are mentioned below with their respective symptoms and treatment.
Common dog diseases are:
1. Dog Distemper: It is one of the most common diseases of dogs, and it is mostly caused because of the attack of contagious, airborne virus. It causes lots of discomforts to a dog. It affects the dog’s respiratory system, gastrointestinal, and nervous systems. Common symptoms of this disease are – runny nose and eyes, cold, diarrhea, fever, cough, nervous jerking, convulsion and paralysis. There is no affluent treatment for this disease.
2. Dog Hepatitis: The common symptoms of this disease are - fever, tissue swelling, depression and hemorrhage. It is usually transmitted by urine, feces or saliva of infected animal and affects the liver, kidney, blood vessels of a dog. There is no efficient treatment for this disease and death of a dog is common.
3. Dog Kennel cough: It is a contagious disease and caused by several viruses attack. It affects the respiratory system, which cause a constant, dry, hacking cough. It is a mild disease for mostly adult dog, but it can be severe pneumonia in puppies and old dogs. It is significant to use vaccination against Kennel Cough as it can be transmitted between the dogs.
4. Dog Leptospirosis: The common symptoms of this disease are - fever, vomiting, diarrhea, and jaundice, kidney failure. It is transmitted by the contact of nasal secretions, urine, or saliva of infected animals. This disease can be hazardous for human beings as well. It can be treated by antibiotics, intensive care and intravenous fluid therapy. At times a dog recovers from this disease but the kidney doesn’t get recover easily.
5. Dog Parvovirus: It is a deadly contagious disease and usually cause because of the contact with infected material. The common symptoms of this disease are - fever, lethargy, vomiting, bloody diarrhea, and rapid dehydration. The virus is difficult to eradicate and is easily spread. It can be treated by intensive IV fluid and kind therapy. It usually gets treated.
6. Dog Rabies: The common symptoms of this disease in dogs are – fever, loss of appetite, chewing at the bite site, and change in the way of barking. It is significant to use vaccination against rabies as it can be transmitted to human beings by contact with an infected person.
One can prevent his dog from these diseases by providing adequate care and support to it. Make sure that you keep on monitoring it and its activities. It is significant for a dog owner to pay regular visits of his dog to the veterinarian to prevent serious health problems in dogs.
