Dog Heart Disease

Dog Heart DiseaseLike humans dogs can also be victims of heart diseases. Overweight dogs can especially develop heart problems. There are mainly two types of heart problems that a dog can suffer from. The first type occurs when the valves of the dog’s heart are no longer able to close properly. This increases the blood flow pressure. The other type of heart problem arises when the walls of the heart become thin and the cardiac muscles become very weak. Both the cases of heart problems eventually lead to the incidence of heart attack. The following are some symptoms related to the dog heart diseases.

• The dog will appear to be lethargic
• It will find difficulty in breathing
• Would seem to be quite weak.
• The dog will cough and feel sick
• Loss of appetite and weight

Due to the weak muscles and valves of the heart, the blood vessels would have restrictive blood flow, accumulation of fluid in the lungs and retention of sodium and water in the kidneys.

You are recommended to take your dog to a vet physician for check up. One of the effective ways to prevent the incidence of heart diseases is by taking your dog outdoors for a regular schedule of exercise.
