Essential Vitamins and Minerals to Control Fleas Fleas are one of the most common infestations occurring in dogs. The incidence of fleas is mainly seen in dogs that are suffering from ill health and suppressed immune system. In fact, fleas are absent in dogs that enjoy a good health and stable physical conditions. Fleas are active in hot dampened summers and become non existent in the winters but they take no less time to reappear in the consequent summer season until proper flea control methods are implemented. You should be informed that not only your dog but also the drapes, carpets and such items become the breeding zone of the fleas when in contact with the infested dog. The presence of vitamin B -1 or thiamine in the blood of your dog would help it to grow resistant towards the attack of fleas. You may also add prescribed dosage of brewer’s yeast or 10 to 25 gram of yeast free B complex to the diet of the pet. Supplements having trace minerals and zinc are also ideal for the pets to stay away from fleas and skin infections. Feed your dog with essential fatty acids, detoxifier and immune strengthening vitamin C, vitamin B-5 and oil of evening primrose plant extracts.
