Homeopathy for Epilepsy
Epilepsy or the occurrence of seizures is quite common among dogs than in cats. Loss of sudden consciousness can be due to several reasons like poisoning, a blow or injury inflicted in the head, occurrence of any infectious disease, development of a tumor in the brain, encephalitis and such.
Epilepsy is diagnosed when the seizures are frequent and follows a definite pattern. The seizures usually last for not less than five minutes but long and continuous seizures may take place in repeated spells. Though the seizure may occur for short duration but it might take several hours for recovery. The following homeopathic medicines may be useful for the dog to deal with epilepsy.
- The very important of all the homeopathy medicines is the belladonna. Administer the medicine in order to treat the dilated pupils and throbbing pulse. The medicine specially works for animals when feeling hot.
- Cocculus should be taken in regular dosage for several months.
- Ignatia is generally administered when the seizure is accompanied by attacks.
- Artemisia or mugwort are used for not so severe seizures.
- In case you find the pet to be very nervous or impatient, find them to be agitated, barking and trying to attack somebody, it must be given the medicine called Bufo rano.
- For chronic seizures the medicine that is usually given is Cicuta virosa.
- Incase of violent compulsions, locked jaws, foaming of the mouth and such, the medicine that can be given as remedy is oenanthe crocata.
Medicine can be given after every attack except the cocculus. Cocculus is administered on pendulum test frequency.
