Morgan Horse Features
Morgan is an old-established American breed. It was founded on from a single stallion in Massachusetts in 1793, which eventually came to be known after one of its owners, Justin Morgan of Vermont. The origins of this stallion ate a known. But it is thought to be a combination fowl’s cob, Thoroughbred and native stock of Arab and Barb descent. And at pulling heavy weights as well as being a good riding and ranch horse, and times in great demand as a sire. It stamped its size, conformation and character of its offspring with such consistency that by me the time of its death in 1821, a new breed had been created. During the nineteenth century the Morgan was itself used in the foundation of other great American breeds, including the Standard bred, the Saddle bred and the Tennessee walking horse.
In the past the Morgan was used mainly lit ranch and harness work. And proved its strength by doing heavy draught work. Even today, the Morgan is the only breed that has to be shown as a harness, show, and draught horse.
With its strength and stamina, elegant high stepping action and good nature, the Morgan is still popular today. It makes an ideal family horse as intakes easily to any form of equestrian activity, be pleasure riding, endurance riding, or showing in harness.
