Painted Rock Lobster
Painted rock lobster is a brightly colored crustacean that belongs to a group of species called spiny lobsters. Instead of claws, spiny lobsters have long, sharp-edged antennae that they use as weapons when threatened. The painted rock lobster usually lives in shallow water. Like many of its relatives, it tends to feed at night and live in large groups.
The scientific name of painted rock lobster is palinurus versilor. Its maximum length is about 20 inches (52 cm). It lives in coral reefs and lagoons. It is widely distributed in western pacific ocean and indian ocean. The female carries eggs beneath abdomen; larvae are free floating. It feeds on dead animals; and also hunts small creatures.
