Pet Urinary Problems




In the recognition of diseases of urinary tract, the examination of urine is very important, if nonessential. That disease is present may be suggested by some symptoms noted in the passage of urine. The quantities of urine passed vary with weather conditions, with exercise and with food or water taken in.

Anuria - is a condition in which no urine is secreted and may occur in Acute Nephritis.

Ischuria - is a condition in which there is a difficulty in passing a urine. The urine is passed in drops or in a thin stream as in retention of urine, structure, tumors, calculi or swellings.

Dysuria - means that urination is painful assign Cystitis or Arthritis.

Strangury - means that the animal attempts to urinate frequently, strains violently and passes the urine in small quantities such as in imitation of urethra or bladder.

Incontinuance of Urine - is a condition in which the urine cannot be retained in the bladder and drips continually from the urethra. This may occur in paralysis of the sphincter of bladder, in case of some cystic calculi or some cases of Cystitis.

Polyuria - passing of urine in large quantities and of low specific gravity. May be seen INP! Abetes insipidus. In dogs, it indicates Nephritis.

Oliguria - Passage of little urine may point to some urinary affection.


Albuminuria - Serum albumen appear dissolved in urine.

Hemoglobinuria - Hemoglobin is passed inuring and the urine becomes red or brown.

Myoglobinuria - Myoglobin pigment issued in the urine, noted in horses in Astoria.

Hematuria - pure blood passed in the urine and may be in clots or diffused. It may resulthpn hemorrhage in any part of the Urinary tract. The sample of urine must be examined for specific gravity, presence of albumen, sugar, bile-tents and salts, color, odor, reaction, acetone and its compounds, renal casts, cells, bacteria and crystals.
