Queen angel fish care
Queen angel fish is native to the area near the reefs in the warmer parts of the western Atlantic Ocean. It is scientifically known as Holacanthus Ciliaris. Queen angelfish is very popular as pets because of its dazzling looks. This fish has greenish yellow head and dark blue eyes. These fish are shy in nature, therefore they are mostly found in groups. Queen fish looks almost similar to the Holacanthus Bermudensis. The only difference between the two is the dark spot on the forehead of the queen fish that look likes a crown; therefore they are called as queen angel fish. This fish can grow up to 45 cm and can live about 15 years only if provided with proper care. Queen angel fish care tips:
1. Queen angel fish food: You can offer sheet of seaweed or meaty food like mysis shrimp or krill to your pet queen angel fish. This fish also like to feed on jellyfish, tunicates, plankton, algae and coral. Meaty food and algae are best option to serve this fish.
2. Queen angel fish aquarium: It is important for owner to provide proper and comfortable aquarium to your pet fish. The large queen angel fish mostly remains still in the aquarium so that smaller ones can enter to sensitive areas. Large queen angelfish have the potential to become enormous which intimidates other fishes in a marine aquarium. The large fish turns out aggressive towards other large angelfish though, it ignores other species of fish. So it is advisable to keep one queen angelfish per aquarium so that fishes can stay peacefully. 50 gallons of aquarium is a large enough for the queen angel fish.
3. Breeding queen angel fish: The mating process takes place by rising in water. During mating process they bring their bellies close together. Then they release clouds of perms in the aquarium. The female queen fish swill discharge 25 to 70 thousand eggs each evening. Female queen fish can lay 10 million eggs during each spawning cycle. The floating fertilized eggs that are transparent will hatch after 15 to 20 hours into larvae. The baby angelfish, fry will not have eyes, fins and digestive organs at that time. After one month, the baby queen fish will develop its fins, eyes and digestive system.
Generally this fish are expensive as compare to other fish due to their striking looks. It is a not a good option for beginners.
