Requirements of a tortoise
There are several things that one should provide to his pet tortoise in order to keep it healthy. Owner should be aware of the things that their pet tortoise requires. To keep your pet in good shape, it is important for one to fulfil basic requirements of it. Things that a pet tortoise requires to survive are enclosure, food, plant and supplements.
Requirements of a tortoise:
1. Enclosure for tortoise: It is the one of the basic requirements of a pet tortoise. Owner should provide clean and safe environment to their pet tortoise. The enclosure preferences of tortoise are species specific. Some tortoise likes to have outdoor enclosure while other tortoise prefers indoor enclosure to stay in. i8t should be large in size because tortoise grows quickly. You can also serve banana, plum, strawberry; rose, poppy, different plants and flowers in the garden to his tortoise.
3. Plants for tortoise: it is a good idea to decorate your pet tortoise enclosure with plants such as dandelion, hawkbits, hawkweeds, hawkbeards, clovers, sedums, mallows, nettles, vetches, trefoils, wild clematis bindweeds as it will make your pet enclosure lively. Pet tortoise can also eat these plants as they are safe. Avoid keeping poisonous plants in your tortoise enclosure as they can eat them.
4. Supplements for tortoise: Supplements such as calcium, vitamin can be added in your pet tortoise’s diet to keep it healthy. The quantity of supplement that you should supply to your pet is dependent on the size of your pet tortoise.
5. Plate to serve food: One should serve them, in a flat plate instead of deep bowl because it is difficult for them to eat from deep bowl. It is important for you to clean your pet tortoise’s dishes regularly in order to avoid infections. The food should be served in a clean bowl to them.
