Nowadays, tortoises are quite admired by people as a pet. They are heavy, bulky land dwelling animal that love to stay at one place. Their strong body helps them to survive for long. A normal tortoise can live up to 100 years. However, like other animals they also require certain care in order to have healthy life. 1. Habitat for tortoise: It is significant for owner to provide proper and comfortable enclosure to his tortoise. Habitat preference of tortoise is species specific because some tortoises need outdoor enclosure while others require indoor enclosure to stay in. it should be designed according to you and your tortoise needs. Proper space should be provided in the enclosure to stay, relax and eat. It should be large in size so that your tortoise can flourish properly. The tortoise enclosure should be kept clean in order to protect tortoise from various infection.
2. Food for tortoise: owner must provide healthy and good amount of food to his pet tortoise. Food is essential for the growth of tortoise. Fresh and healthy food should be provided to pet tortoise in order to maintain its health. Apple seeds, Bananas, Beans, Cabbage, Cat food, Chard, Dog food, Iceberg lettuce, Peas, Sprouts, Spinach and Watermelon should not be served to them as it can harm your animal.their diet should include - peas and beans, lettuce, cabbage, carrot or turnip, banana, plum and strawberry. try to maintain proper diet of your pet.
3. Breeding of tortoise: healthy sand matured tortoises should be indulged in breeding process. Proper habitat should be provided to female tortoise to keep their eggs. After mating process tortoise will lay eggs in the water. The eggs of tortoise should be incubated in an efficient incubator for at least 45 days. The incubation period might take one year or more. The temperature that should be kept during incubation is varies according to the species. Make sure that the eggs are incubated for proper time.
