There are several things that a pet turtle required in order to survive. Owner should fulfill the basic requirements of his pet turtle in order to keep it comfortable and in good shape. Several things that are significant for pet turtles are – habitat, food, accessories, supplements, care, maintenance, health etc.

Turtle requirements:

• Food for turtle: Turtle requires fresh and healthy food in order to maintain their health. Different turtle require different food to survive. It is advisable to consult your vet or pet store owner about what to feed and how often to be fed. Berries and leafy vegetable are good for herbivore turtle whereas Snails, small fish, live crickets and earthworms are excellent for carnivore turtle. Packaged food is also a good option to serve pet turtle in order to keep them healthy.
• Enclosure for turtle: One of the basic requirements of a pet turtle is a proper enclosure to rest and spend their whole day in. Pet turtles require specific environment in order to survive. Semi aquatic turtles require large enclosure to say in. Garden pond is a good option for semi aquatic animals. Whereas aquatic turtles require small glass aquarium to stay. Glass aquarium is a good option for aquatic turtles.Glass or plastic enclosure is quite admired as a turtle enclosure because it is impermeable and non – absorbent. Some turtles require wood or acrylic enclosure to stay. It is essential for one to provide proper enclosure to their turtle. One should provide proper maintenance and care to their pet turtle enclosure as they are one of the messy creatures. Water change program should be introduced in every 45 days in order to maintain quality of the water.

• Light for turtle: Pet turtles require proper light in their enclosure to survive. It is a good option to provide UVA and UVB lights in your turtle’s enclosure because it helps in absorbing calcium. One should not keep their turtle enclosure in direct sunlight because it can cause algae growth.
• Supplements for turtle: One should add supplements in their pet turtle’s diet in order to make it healthy. Flourishing you turtle’s diet with supplements such as - vitamins, calcium, phosphorous will bring an enormous change in their health.

The above mentioned turtle requirements are significant for owner to fulfill in order to sustain their turtle’s health. Owner should monitor the activities of their turtle regularly, in case if they found any kind of change in their activity then they should consult vetererian.
