Types of hardy fish




Hardy fish are the fish that are easy to sustain in an aquarium. It makes a good choice for beginners as they can survive for long. One should consider hardy fish for their aquarium because they have a better chance of surviving in a fish tank. Hardy fish are more likely to stay alive the first few uncertain months as the water stabilizes. Although there are several types of hardy fish and but it is complicated to mention the name of all here. Therefore, some common types hard fish are mentioned below that one can keep in their new aquarium.

Types of hardy fish:

1. Comet fish: It is also admired by people as they have resistance to diseases. They try to hide themselves when introduced to the aquarium as they are shy in nature. After some time they get used to that environment and get mix with the environment. The common colors of this fish are yellow, orange, red and white. It has long, singly and deeply forked tail fin and requires dim light to survive.

2. Hawkfish: This type of hardy fish is quite admired by people as it is very hard. Moreover, it has a better chance of surviving in a new fish tank. Their vibrant colors make them look beautiful and elegant. It has large head with thick body.  The maximum size of this fish is 15 cm and average is 7 cm. It is difficult to distinguish the sexes of hawk fish.

3. Neon tetras: It is quite admired by people because of their elegant looks moreover, this fish adapts well to a wide range of water conditions. It can survive up to 10 years and generally live up to 5 years in an aquarium. It has light blue color over silver a silver white belly and comes in bright colors that make it look attractive. One should change its water frequently to ensure that there is good flow of water through the tank.

4. Guppy fish: It is also admired by people because it adjusts easily in every aquarium. Moreover, its bright colors make it look more attractive. It is easy to distinguish the sexes of this fish. Female guppy fish has grey color body and male guppy fish have splashes, spots, or stripes that can be yellow, orange, blue, red, black, or even purple.

5. Damselfish: This type of hard fish is colorful and hardy. It can live in aquarium during its initial existence as well. It also provide biological stabilizer to the aquarium. The average size of this fish is 8 cm. this fish like to eat algae, plankton, crustaceans. It is popular because it is disease resistant.

Although hardy fish have better chance of surviving in a fish tank but, they require same maintenance like other fishes. It is significant for one to carry out water change regularly.
