Wild Tabby Cats
Another group of cats considered to have played a role in the development of the domestic varieties is one thatincludes the tabby cats.Chief among these are the Kaffir cat (Felix lybica), African wild cat(F. ocreata) and European wild cat (F. silvestria). The first two species are definitely believed to have been involved in the development of the domestic cats, while the third—because of its shyness—may or may not have been a contributor to the evolution of the domestic varieties. All the wild tabby cats have a striking resemblance to domestic tabbies. They are yellowish-grey, banded and varied with black markings.
