Dog Shoulder Dislocations

Shoulder dislocations can be observed by comparing the feel of the two shoulders. Generally a quick forward pull while someone holds the dog firmly will snap a dislocated shoulder into place, with very little resulting pain. But a difficult dislocation should not be pulled more than once. There may be tissue between the two parts. Your veterinarian can locate the trouble quickly and, by anesthetizing the dog and then twisting the leg, will be able to replace it quite simply.

The joint dislocation is quite different from other joint dislocations. It is quite difficult to trace the incidence of shoulder dislocation in dogs. Very rarely, or if at all it occurs the swelling and inflammation in the disjointed shoulders takes place at very low degree. The affected dog would be finding some difficulty while stretching or contacting the shoulder muscles while performing physical exercises.

The detection of the bone disorder can also be hardly detected with the aid of the radiographic X-ray plates. Several times the vet surgeons use the fiber optical apparatus. To use the fiber optical apparatus for diagnosing the disease the dog has to be put under general anesthesia. There are certain shoulder joints that may not require surgery. The dislocation can get easily cured by administering medicines like the analgesic medications. Though the intake of proper medication is quite effective in curing dog shoulder dislocations but sometimes the withheld of the surgery may lead to the formation of arthritis in the shoulder joints of the dog. For a dog shoulder location you are recommended to consult a vet surgeon for a surgery. It would be wise decision taken on your part if the fragmented and dislocated cartilage of the bones of the shoulder joints is removed.

If you find that your pup or dog to be suffering from a joint problem you must immediately take it to a vet doctor for effective treatment. Your inability of providing proper treatment to your dog on wither the basis of financial crunch or the lack of the will to take up responsibility of the health of the dog might land you up into legal trouble. You can be accused as a guilty for committing animal cruelty. Apart from that you are also putting the life of the benign animal into trouble. So, before taking a dog as your pet you should be well aware of your capacity to maintain it for its wellbeing.

Probably the best possible remedial step is to by providing home care to your dog. In case of a dislocated shoulder you may consult a vet doctor to learn how to nurse your dog properly, so that the dog suffers from less pain. In fact, proper home care nursing may also be given so that the dislocation gets cured. Do not allow your dog to go for heavy exercises and it would be good for the dog to take ample rest. If under medication do not discontinue it until the entire course of the medication gets over.
