Clown fish are also known as Anemone fish and are the members of the Pomacentridae family and are a subfamily of Amphiprioninae. They are quite unique in looks and are mostly found in the eastern and western Pacific Ocean. They are quite popular because of their striking looks. They are quite peaceful and colorful in looks. Clown fish requires a proper amount of care for its survival. Make sure that you provide a stable saltwater aquarium for them to reside. One should know the specific information about the different types of clown fish so that he can provide necessary requirements to its clown fish. It will also help him to adjust the size of an aquarium accordingly. Make sure that the lighting and filtration system that you provide to your aquarium should not harm the clown fish. You must have good filtration system and lighting in the aquarium so that you can provide the best possible environment for the clown fish.

One of the interesting facts about clown fish is that it starts its life as a male. As they grow male, they switch to female. Since clown fishes hardly depart from their sea anemones. Therefore, it is recommended, to place the two together for the best result. Since anemone is quite hard to keep lively in an aquarium. Therefore, novice should avoid keeping this type of fish in their aquarium. The maximum life span of the sea anemone is 2 year whether they are kept by an expert aquarium owner or a novice.

The idle water temperature for this type of fish is 77 - 82°F or 25 - 27ºC. So the owner must adjust the water temperature of their aquarium according to it. Try to make the environment for your clown fish just like the ocean. You can add live rock, live sand, a 100-watt submersible heater, dechlorinator, gravel siphon, algae pad/scraper, fake plants, and decorative items for them to play and hide in. One must leave them out from the tank as they love it. Wild clown fish face many threats; one such threat is not having a place to reside. These types of fish require coral reefs for their survival. So the owner must make sure that he provides proper coral reefs for the clown fish for their survival.

Owning a clown fish requires a little bit practice for its maintenance, but one should not be discouraged as it is not much difficult. Clown fish requires regular monitoring by the owner for its survival. Make sure that you provide them necessary attention that it requires.

The name clownfish was given as this fish has the tendency of continuous darting and bouncing as it swims. This resembles like it is enjoying in water, but the fact is it is actually warning the predators and protecting its turf. Most of the times, this fish has an aggressive nature towards the other fish in the tank. There are various types of clownfish which have particular type of anemones. Clownfish continuously rubs its body against the host anemone, so that it covers its body in the anemone’s smell. This makes the anemone recognize the fish as its own part due to which it does not attack the clownfish.
