Steps to set up a freshwater aquarium:

- Buy an aquarium cabinet: Purchase an aquarium cabinet according to the space that you have decided for placing your tank. Make sure it contains storage so that you can keep your fish supplies in it.
- Purchase fish accessories: Collect the necessary accessory for your aquarium like – gravels, pebbles, stones, power strip and other decorations to make your aquarium look livelier. These accessories will accompany the fishes. Decide the filtration system and heater that you would like to place in your freshwater fish tank. Ensure that you choose efficient and effective filter and heater for your freshwater fish tank. One must choose a heater with an adjustable thermostat, as different fishes prefer different temperatures.
- Place your fish tank: Place your freshwater aquarium at a space you have decided. Decide the spot sensibly as it won’t be able to move, once it gets filled with water. It is a good idea to keep it against the wall of your house. It should not be kept under direct sunlight as direct sunrays can cause algae in it.

- Add all accessories in your aquarium: Put all necessary accessories in your aquarium and make sure that it looks beautiful in your aquarium. Install heater and filters as well.
- Add water to the freshwater aquarium: Put room temperature in your tank. Check before filling it completely, whether the tank is leaking or not. If your tank is leaking then you should stop filling it. One can remove chlorine and chloramines from their tank by using tetra aqua safe in your aquarium. Don’t completely fill the water in your aquarium unless you are satisfied with its decoration.
- Add tropical fish: Ask fish suppliers about some good tropical, freshwater fish. He will definitely help you to choose best fishes for your aquarium. Don’t feed the fish first day as they probably wouldn’t eat.
- Regularly maintain your tank: provide food to your fish regularly to make them survive for long. Tropical fishes require proper care and maintenance for their survival.
