1. Decide place for your aquarium: It is significant for one to decide the place where you want to place your fish tank. This will help you to determine the size of the aquarium that you should buy. Moreover, it will help to decide whether you require a cabinet for your aquarium or not.
2. Decide fish tank: The size of a fish tank should fit the space that you have decided. Try to have in mind what kind of fish you want to keep in an aquarium before purchasing it. It is a good idea to provide them larger tank as that will allow them to enough space to swim and reside peacefully.
3. Buy an aquarium cabinet: Purchase an aquarium cabinet according to the space that you have decided for placing your tank. Make sure it contains storage so that you can keep your fish supplies in it.
4. Purchase fish accessories: Collect the necessary accessory for your aquarium like – gravels, pebbles, stones, power strip and other decorations to make your aquarium look livelier. These accessories will accompany the fishes. Decide the filtration system and heater that you would like to place in your freshwater fish tank. Ensure that you choose efficient and effective filter and heater for your freshwater fish tank. One must choose a heater with an adjustable thermostat, as different fishes prefer different temperatures.
5. Place your fish tank: Place your freshwater aquarium at a space you have decided. Decide the spot sensibly as it won’t be able to move, once it gets filled with water. It is a good idea to keep it against the wall of your house. It should not be kept under direct sunlight as direct sunrays can cause algae in it.

10. Regularly maintain your tank: provide food to your fish regularly to make them survive for long. Tropical fishes require proper care and maintenance for their survival.
