How To Deal With Stinky Beta Fish Water
Beta fish is a fresh water fish. It is also known as Siamese fighting fish. It is a favorite pet fish because of its friendliness. As it gets involved in some interesting activities, it is liked and loved by all. They are generally known as low maintenance fish as it is not a tough job to take care of this fish. This small fish of fresh water encounters diseases easily if its tank water becomes foamy, cloudy or smelly. To avoid any type of disease affect your fish, you should frequently clear its tank water. You must know hw to deal with stinky beta fish water. Following are some steps which can be implemented in the course of dealing with stinky water of beta fish tank-
Frequent Change of Tank Water :Follow frequent and proper change of water. This will not allow any accumulation of wastes and will remove any decaying organic matter. Also, this cleaning up will prevent any toxins from building up in the water.
Add Chemicals to the Water :Add a pinch or rock salt or aquarium salt to the tap water which you put in your fish tank. Treat this water with chlorine neutralizer as well. This procedure is safe for the fish as it kills a broad band of bacteria.
Avoid Bacterial Infestation :Regularly check the fish water. If you find it smelly, cloudy or foamy, if it is stinking, be alarmed. It is time to take immediate action. smelly, cloudy, foamy or stinking water means bacterial infestation. Change the water and sanitize it. For sanitizing, soak the emptied fish home, its filter and plastic plants in a mixture of tap water and Clorox. Take care that you add one part of Clorox to twenty parts of water. Allow it to soak in this mixture for about an hour. Thereafter, rinse thoroughly for many times. Then wipe it till dry. Heat the gravels and rocks in an oven at 450degree Fahrenheit for an hour approximately. Put them in your fish’s home when they cool off. In your filter put a new filtering media. Fill your fish home with fresh water and allow it to run for twenty-four hours before you put your fish again into its sweet home.
Water Quantity in a Tank :
Provide at least 5 gallon filtered tank along with a heater and the problem of smell will be solved.
Frequency to Feed Fish :Do not feed your fish more than two times a day. Do not feed it more than it eats within two minutes. Be careful that any food bits are not there in the water. Remove all uneaten food bits from the water.
Add Gravel to your Fish Home :From an established aquarium get a handful of gravel to be added to your fish water. Sprinkle this gravel on the top of the gravel you are already having in the fish tank water. In this freshly added gravel cluster some useful bacteria are present which multiply at a very fast rate to the remaining gravel in the fish tank and clears the water present by eating up the waste in the water.
Check the Water Filter :If you have provided your fish home with a filter, keep checking it frequently to ensure its cleanliness and rate of water’s flow.
