Collecting all supplies needed for successful breeding of goldfish:
- Collect all supplies and equipment required for the breeding process. You should have the items such as: 25 gallon tank, plants to put in tank, a 3-5 gallon tank, gold fish baby food, 1 male gold fish of 3year, 1 female gold fish of 3 year, a tank heater, and a filter system.
- After collecting supplies, fill the 25 gallon tank with clean water and 3-5 gallon tank with more than 6 inches of water.
The sign of gold fish, when they are ready to mate:
- Male fish will have white pimple spots on the covering gills
- Female will become round in shape.
- Mating process will last for near about 3-4 hours. The water may become murky, which is normal.
Initiate the mating process of gold fish:
- At first put the plants into the tank and release the gold fish.
- When the fish is put in tank, the female gold fish will release her eggs in the tank. Mostly eggs get stuck to plants in the tank.
- Now the male gold fish will spray a substance called milt all over the tank and on the eggs.
Egg Fertilization of Gold fish:
- After the eggs are fertilized, you will have to remove eggs from 25 gallon tank. Eggs should be placed in 3-5 gallon tank.
- Put maximum 6 inches of water in the tank. More water may decrease the potential of fertilized egg.
- After the eggs are released, keep the male and female goldfish away from the fertilized eggs. They usually eat their eggs.
Incubation process of Gold fish :
- Now you will need to set the heater for the tank. For 5 days incubation period, set the temperature to 70 degrees. For 7 days incubation period set the temperature to 65 degrees Fahrenheit.
- You will also have to install the weak filter system so that it does not filter any healthy egg.
- During incubation process, you should be aware of any eggs which may be infected with fungus. Infected egg will appear white in color .This egg should be removed. It may infect other healthy eggs. You have to add few drops of methylene blue to tank to kill the fungus.
Birth of gold fish baby:
- After the fourth day, you can see the growth of baby gold fish in the egg.
- After 3 days, you can see the baby gold fish coming out of eggs. Baby gold fish will begin to feed on their yolk for 3 days.
- Gold fish baby is feeded with frozen brine, flaked foods, liquid foods and micro worms.
- Once the baby gold fish starts developing properly, you need to separate them into regular fish pond or tank with a plenty of water.
You can breed the gold fish at home. For this you should know how the gold fish lays eggs. This will help you to take proper care during the breeding process.
