AFFECT OF FUNGUS ON FISH:
Fungus severely affects the unfertilized eggs and if not treated on time can rapidly spread to fertilized ones too.
Bala sharks are those species which are more prone to be killed by fungal attack while other types can handle it well.
Fish fungus is the common fish disease which is caused to the aquarium fishes. Fungus infections are caused mainly on the exposed skin tissues. An injury that is caused due to rough handling of fish, or fighting in between the fishes can lead to open wounds which are degradation of the upper protective skin. Later, the skin gets various fungal infections, which can be caused due to the anchor worm attack.
If these infections are not treated, then they can easily spread to other body parts, resulting into more serious health conditions. The fungal infection looks like the cotton wool lump, which can be dangerous and cause death if it is not treated. Apart from skin areas, the fungal infections can occur on the gills of the fishes. As the fungus has the tendency to spread fast, it causes the gill tissues to die and due to this, the fish is unable to breathe.
