But you must be careful of the fact that the fish should not be a threat to the life of the other cichlids. Whether the fish would be able to adjust with the other cichlids or not depends upon the personality of the fish.
  • You must be careful of the quality of the water in which the fish should be kept. You are recommended to keep the aquarium clean and change the water at a regular basis. You are recommended to at least change the 25% of the water weekly. The fish is ideally to be kept in a medium sized tank.
  • The fish is rated as one of the good looking aquarium fish among the fish owners. If the fish is properly taken care of it would display brilliant color pigmentation. It would appear with hues of blue and green along with slight orange tipped fins.
  • The fish is more or less peaceful in nature and are non aggressive. It can stay peacefully with the fish breeds like the firemouths, severums, port acara, kribensis. The fish has also been found to be staying with the convicts even though it is quite larger in size than the other.
  • It would not be suitable for the small fish breeds like the Neons to stay with the blue acare. The fish may happily survive with the aid of live food but they prefer live food as well. The blue acara would show off a brilliant color if given blood worms to eat.
  • In wild the fish mainly leaves on worms, crustaceans and insects. As a pet it can be fed with live food like blood worms, earth worms, tubifex and such. The frozen foods like the brine shrimp, blood worms, protein flakes and fish tablets.
  • At least fill the tank with 30 gallons of water. The environment of the tank must be well cleaned. The water of the tank must also have strong and efficient filtration. The water of the aquarium must be in constant movement rather than being stagnant.
You are recommended to arrange for an aquarium having a bottom filled up with very fine sand. It must have good hiding place for the fish. The fish must be given the opportunity to hide and burrow in the sand. The fish is fun to watch as it has a very diligent appearance. You must be very cautious while taking care of then as they can be subjected to many diseases if not well kept.
