SCIENTIFIC NAME: Brochis splendens.
SYNONYM: Brochis coeruleus.
DESIGNATION: Tropical.
DISTRIBUTION: Brazil, Equador and Peru.Size: Males 7.5 cm (3 in); females somewhatlarger.
WATER PREFERENCES: Not critical.Temperature: 24-27°C (75-80.5°F).
DIET: All foods, including a vegetablecomponent and bottom-dwelling livefoods.
BREEDING: Eggs are first laid in the foldedpelvic fins of the female and are transferredto several sites, for example floating plants,after fertilisation. The eggs are adhesive andhatch in about 4 days.
DESCRIPTION: This peacefulspecies is best kept in shoals. It will associatefreely with Corydoras species.
