Clown Fish Information

  • The maximum size of the fish grows up to the length of the 4 cm to 15 inches.
  • The original home of the fish consists of several part of the continent of Africa like the Guinea, Sierra Leone and Liberia. The fish is very peaceful in nature and at the same time very timid as well. The water parameters include the Ph level to be 6.0-7.2, temperature in between 23 and 25°C or 73 and 77° F.
  • The fish can easily get along with other peaceful fish of small breeds.
  • For the fish arrange for them a heavily planted fish tank as they are very shy and timid in nature. The water of the tank should be clean as the fish id of fresh water type and must also be very soft. The top of the aquarium should also be well covered as they are excellent jumpers.
  • The fish may feed on any form of food items including pieces of flakes.
  • The method of breeding is similar to other fish breeds of egg scattering killies. The female fish would be seen laying eggs everyday. You would also find that unlike other fish the clown fish hardly feed on their eggs and as a result of which you can prepare a permanent well planted tank where the fish can breed easily and survive healthily. The young fry should be ideally be fed on brine shrimp.
  • The fish can easily cohabit with other breeds of killies and tetra fish that grow up to the same size of the clown fish.
  • In case you want to breed shrimps keeping bigger sized shrimp in the same tank along with clown fish would not be a matter of concern. But keeping of dwarf brine or the ones that grow less than an inch should not be kept with the fish as the fish is often seen to be nibbling the shrimp.
  • The fish may live in an aquarium, which is may or may not be planted. The fish swims at all levels of the aquarium. You may decorate the cave with high floating plants as well as low residing rocky caves.
The fish may feed on the sinking pellets and the bottom lying debris also. The fish would love to be fed with the tubifex worms, frozen mysis, bloodworms and brine shrimp.
