SCIENTIFIC NAME: Aphyosemion a.trale.
DESIGNATION: Tropical, but can comfortablytolerate upper end of the coldwater range.
GEOGRAPHICAL DISTRIBUTION: Gabon andsouthern Cameroon.
SIZE: 6.5 cm (2.6 in).
WATER PREFERENCES: Soft, peat-stained, acidwater kept between 18-24°C (64.5-75'F).
DIET: Some dry foods accepted, but dietshould consist predominantly of livefoods.
BREEDING: This species is a non-annual mop-spawner in which the eggs take about afortnight to hatch.
DESCRIPTION: Several colourvarieties, including an impressive orange oneexist. Most A. australe which have becomeavailable in recent years appear to be tank-bred. Hybridisation with closely relatedspecies is possible and should be avoided.
