  • The fish is quite popular among aquarium fish breeders. The fish has beautiful coloration and graceful movements that has lead to the popularity of the fish. The fish is quite hardy in nature as a result of which the fish can be easily maintained by the novice fish breeders. The fish can also be known as Guenther's Nothobranch Killifish, Guenther's Notho, Güenther's Notho and Guenther's Killifish.
  • Though a community tank fish breed but the fish has been noted to be excessively aggressive to wards its own king. Though aggressive if kept along with the companions belonging to the same specie but the fish is rather reclusive and shy if kept in a community tank with other fish breeds. In fact the fish should be kept with highly active and aggressive fish breeds.
  • The size of the fish tank in which the fish is to be kept should be of the size from medium to large. The substrate of the tank must be of peat which is safe to the aquarium. The tank must be well planted with live aquatic vegetation.
  • The fish is quite difficult to be spotted it pet stores. One has to specifically get in tough with the local fish societies and clubs to collect the fish breeds.
  • The fish is annual in nature and hence is short lived. Due to short life of the fish the sexual maturity comes early. They are capable of laying eggs when they reach the age of three or four weeks of age.
  • The fish reaches up the maximum length of one and half inches. The brilliant coloration of the fish consists of green, yellow and reddish pigmentation. The caudal fins are quite long in size having edges of red and brownish edges.
  • The sex of the fish can be identified by closely watching the fish. The female fish is less colorful and even smaller in size compared to that of the male fish.
While raising the fish you must be aware of certain facts of the fish. They fry of the fish are very tiny and many of them are not able to feed on the baby brine shrimps. The fish breeds that in most cases are unable to feed on the brine shrimps turn out to be females. So, you are recommended to maintain a green tank to provide the fry with steady supply of food. The fish is susceptible to large and sudden water changes. It is also prone to a velvet disease which can be effectively controlled by keeping the water of the tank clean. To keep off the spread of the disease you may add a teaspoon full of rock salt per gallon of water.
