SIZE: Around 6 cm (2.5 in).
WATER PREFERENCES: Not critical.Temperature: 21-30°C (70-86°F) but mid-20s°C (around 77°F) preferred.
DIET: All foods.
BREEDING: A bit unpredictable. Wellconditioned specimens will spawn in typicalBarb fashion.
DESCRIPTION: The origins of thisfish are obscure. Some believe it to be avariety of B. ticto (the Ticto Barb from SriLanka). Others say that it is an artificialvariety developed from crosses involving B.conchonius (Rosy Barb), B. cumingi(Coming's Barb), B. ticto (again) or B. tictostoliczkae (Stoliczk's Barb, otherwise knownas B. stoliczkanus). Whatever the case, the Odessa Barb is a lively, colourful fish. Single specimens or pairs sometimes become fin nippers.
