Infant horses are easy to train as compared to wild and older horse therefore there is a great need to look for horse trainers that is suitable to the horse that you owe.

Choosing a right trainer is also one of the important tasks for owner. Owner should understand his horse’s needs before looking for a trainer, so that the trainer can work on that particular need instead of wasting time on other activities. When the owner is able to identify the specific needs, an appropriate trainer can be selected who could target these specifics.

The trainings that are important to be conducted on every horse are - desensitization, longing, driving, and biting. These trainings are important to learn by your horse before you introduce riding lessons to him.

Horse training is quite a challenging job so the trainers should follow certain guidelines while dealing with horses.

  • Familiarization: It is important for trainers to maintain familiar relations with horses as it would help the horse to learn more quickly. This guideline will act as an advantage as it will help a horse to learn how to behave around horse man as well as other people.
  • Repetition: Trainer should repeat the new things for few things as this is the best way to make them learn.
  • Proper diet schedule: It is significant for horse trainer to maintain proper diet schedule for his horse. Since overfeeding is dangerous therefore trainer should keep adequate check on the diet schedule. Trainer should use bucket to feed horse because feeding from hand is not the correct way to feed horses.
  • Check the potential: Just like humans some horses have more potential than others. It is vital for the horse trainer to check the potential of the horses. The training schedule should be planned according to the willingness and the capacity of that horse. Pushing a horse beyond its potential can be terrible.
  • Rest: After the training process rest is vital for horses. So trainers should provide proper adequate rest to horses after the training.
The above mentioned guidelines would help the horse trainer to train the horses efficiently.

It is vital for owner’s to watch a trainer while teaching your horse, so prepare a timetable when you can be with trainer while training session. Owner should observe and understand the training session properly to gain some knowledge about the way to ride and deal with horse. Sometimes the trainer you choose might be reluctant so it is essential for owner to keep an eye on them during their session.
