Horse Bandage

A tail bandage and four woollen leg bandages are required, the leg bandages for warmth and support whilst in the stable and the tail bandage for keeping the tail neat and tidy.

A variety of boots and bandages is available to protect the horse's legs when he is working. Exercise bandages renegotiated and about 1.2m (4ft) in length and 7cm (3in) wide. They are never applied directly to the legs but are fitted over cotton wool or gamete. They must be very securely fastened with tied tapes, stitching or sticking plaster. This bandage is fitted from above the fetlock joint to just below the knee .Exercise boots come in a variety of styles and materials. The best is the padded, leather brushing boot which is strong, durable and easy to keep clean and supple. A similar boot is available made in felt with a buckle or velcro fastening. These are cheaper but less robust than leather.

A useful and inexpensive boot is the over-reach or bell boot which is made of rubber and is pulled on over the foot to protect the bulbs of the heels on the forefeet.
