Homemade Reptile Incubator

Material Required for the Installation of Home Made Incubator:-
  1. 10-12 gallon aquarium with a top
  2. Bricks, sand or flat rocks
  3. Small cage or a plastic container
  4. 2 digital thermometers.
  5. Humidity gauge
  6. Submersible heater approximately of 40-50 watt’
  7. Vermiculite
Setting Up Of the Homemade Reptile Incubator:-
  1. You can place your aquarium according to your condition or need. Place the bricks at the bottom and fill the reptile incubator with water. It should be at level with bricks. The bricks should have enough space between them so that the plastic container can be placed easily on the top.
  2. An aquarium heater should be placed near the glass. Heater should be regulated at about 85-90 degrees. You have to warm water before adding eggs into the tank. Make sure to place a thermometer in water to monitor the temperature of the tank.
  3. Now, you have to place an inch thick layer of vermiculite in the plastic container. It should be comfortable enough so that eggs can be placed in it. Here you need equal amount of mixture by weight i.e. water and vermiculite. It will create a suitable environment for the incubation of eggs. Make a small hole on the lid of the container to insert the probe of your second thermometer. Put the lid on the container and place it in the aquarium. Lastly place the lid on the aquarium.
  4. Keep check on the temperature inside the plastic container. If required, you have to adjust the submersible heater according to the required temperature.
  5. It would be more comfortable, if you could regulate the needed temperature before putting the eggs in the container.
  6. Humidity gauge should be placed at the top side of the container. Requirements of humidity level should be changed according to the type of animal being incubated in the tank. It can be changed by putting more vents at the top or closing it.
  7. While adding eggs in the tank or reptile incubator you should mark some indentation in the vermiculite. Do not rotate the eggs, when once placed in the incubator. You should check the temperature at least once or twice a day.
  8. Now place the reptile incubator in a safe and secured area and wait for the baby reptile to come out.

This article will surely help you to prepare reptile incubator at home. Making Reptile incubator can be easy and inexpensive only if you have required materials available in your house.
