  2. Sign of Gestation period in iguana :Appetite remains steady. Restlessness increases in iguana. Uprates become thicker. Food and water intake of iguana reduces a lot but no weight loss occurs. Tail becomes very thin in size.
  3. Gestation period of iguana:
    1. Female iguana needs more exercise to lay eggs.
    2. One of the most common disease found in iguana is egg binding.
    3. To prevent this disease, it is better to provide free space to iguana to perform exercise and roam.
    4. Iguana gets fatter as the egg start developing in her body. A row of eggs on each side can be seen.
    5. A gestation period will be approximately of 60 days or 8 weeks. Gestation period counts from the start of egg development until the laying of eggs.
  4. Iguana egg Laying processs: In the natural condition iguana digs burrows, lays eggs and spreads debris and mud over it. However, in captive environment iguana can lay eggs in egging box. Egging box is the box made for laying the eggs of iguana. Depending upon the size of iguana the egging box (reptile incubator) is prepared. Iguana takes about 10-12 hrs to lay eggs in the box. The number of eggs varies according to the age of iguana. Once the female iguana lays egg then iguana comes out of the egg box. Now, Iguana should be fed with proper amount of calcium and vitamin rich diet for next few days.
  5. Incubation of iguana eggs: When female iguanas mate with the male iguanas then there are more chances of fertile eggs. In such case, incubation of eggs is not required. They can be buried off naturally. Iguana eggs are commonly white in color. They should be handled very gently without squeezing. An Enclosure should be prepared and that should be filled with gallons of warm water. Water and air temperature should be maintained around 84-87 degree F. Tank and box form an incubator. Box holds the eggs. So, the proper condition such as heat, light, and humidity should be maintained in the enclosure. Thermometer can be used to check the temperature level in the box. Incubation of iguana eggs takes about 60-90days.
  6. Hatching of iguana eggs : When egg starts to hatch, you can easily see a cut on its shells. The first newborn iguana emerges quickly out of the egg. Newborn iguanas will cut the eggs and likes to sleep for a while.

The above mentioned information will guide you to hatch an iguana egg in a captive environment. Hatching an iguana egg in a captive environment is an innovative and exciting process in its own way.
