Iguanas are the largest member of lizard family. They lay eggs and are cold blooded reptiles. Iguana facts includes they grows quickly, they are herbivores, the most popular among reptile, bit arboreal, and also desire for sunlight.

- Iguanas are herbivores : Iguanas prefer to have plants, trees, flower and fruits in their food. Younger iguanas prefer to have meat in diet but in a small quantity.
The adult iguanas should be fed with vegetarian food only. Feeding the iguana with meat will disturb the metabolic structure of an iguana.
Animal proteins can be very dangerous for the digestive system of an iguana. Imbalance in the kidney may also lead to death of an iguana. Feeding iguana with animal product is not good for the health of an iguana.
- Iguanas can be trained : An iguana is a very talented reptile. It can be trained like other animals i.e. cat, dog, and horse. Iguanas can learn and perform things very easily. The trainer should be capable enough to train them properly otherwise iguana are good learners. Iguanas can be taught many different things like:
- Way to come home when lost in the middle of the road.
- To take care of things in the enclosure.
- To use the bathroom when needed.
- To show different tricks using their body parts.
- Iguanas grow quickly : Iguanas do grow very quickly. With a short period of time iguana grows very long, up to about 6 feet. In about 2 yrs iguana grows 100 times heavier than they were at the time of birth. Iguana with a proper habitat and food grows properly and healthy. While purchasing an iguana, the cage size for the iguana should be considered.
- Iguanas are bit arboreal : Arboreal in general means tree likening. Iguanas like to climb on trees a lot. They like to spend most of their time on the top of trees.
This climbing of iguanas on tree helps iguana for stimulated growth. It is always preferred to put some trees in the artificial aquarium of iguana.
- Iguanas need sunlight : Iguana needs sunlight. They can absorb sunlight directly. They require UVA and UVB light to absorb the nutrients properly. The UVB light in skin helps to maintain vitamin D3 in the skin.
- Iguanas have different species : There are many different species of iguanas. Each species of iguana differ from each other i.e. physical characteristics, size, color, or behavior.
Many people cannot recognize the iguanas due to different variety in the species of iguana. Appearance helps iguana to survive successfully in different habitats and also to get recognized all over the world.
