One should be aware of the products that are essential to be supplied to the iguana in order to keep it comfortable and in good shape. Proper housing/enclosure for iguana: Proper enclosure is the most important requirement of iguanas. The cage should be twice in size than iguana, since it grows very fast. The restricted size of the cage can lead to slow growth of your reptile.

A proper size of enclosure helps in improving its performance and strengthens its body muscles as well.

Climbing Shelves in iguana Cage: Iguana is arboreal. They like climbing trees. The enclosure must contain climbing shelves or branches so that iguana can play and climb on it. Wide shelves, which are made of board and kept on branches, are useful for iguana to climb on it. Climbing helps iguana to maintain its metabolic systems.

Lighting in iguana cage : Lighting in cage of iguana is very necessary. UVA and UVB light should be installed in enclosure. UVA light is required to maintain the natural behavior of iguanas.

However the UVB light is beneficial for reptile to generate vitamin D3. Vitamin D3 helps iguana in the digestion of food. UV light can be provided to iguana directly through sunlight.

Thermometers for iguana: Thermometers should be used to check the temperature in the iguana’s enclosure.

Nail trimming clips for iguana : Nail of the iguana should be trimmed properly when it grows. One can trim the nails of iguana through a nail trimming clipper. Bright light should be put ‘ON’ while trimming the nails in order to prevent blood vessel of iguana being cut.

Water for iguana : Always provide fresh and clean water to iguana. If your iguana likes bathing then the water that you use for their bath should also be clean.

Food for iguana

Iguanas are herbivores reptile. They can be fed with green leafy vegetables like Collard greens, mustard greens, turnip greens, dandelions, escarole, rapini, green beans, pea pods, string beans, clover and alfalfa. Iguana also like to have other vegetable and fruits like bock choy, brussel sprouts, cauliflower, celery, cucumber, grapes, and broccoli in their diet. Avoid giving animal’s protein to iguana as it can cause some problems in their structure.

Vitamin and calcium supplements for iguana: Always provide proper amount of vitamin and calcium supplement in your iguana’s diet. It helps in proper growth of iguana.
