Pet Pythons

If you wish to keep a docile snake as your pet which does not need much maintenance then for sure you won’t ever find a better option than a Python but make that clear in your mind that it cannot be reticulated python. Let’s have a glance at some of the species of pythons.

Burmese pythons and ball pythons:-

If it is your first time that you own a pet then believe me, you won’t find an option better than ball pythons. Generally one finds the ball pythons in colors like black and brown. Often one can notice dark colored blotches on their body. Having a small head, the length of these snakes does not exceed 5 feet. Overall a great snake to be tamed.

The heavy bodied Burmese pythons are generally found in tones of brown. These pythons basically belong to Burma but can be often seen in places like Indonesia and Malaysia. An adult python most of the time exceed the length of 15 feet with an immensely heavy body. Their meals include stuffs like rodents in the early days and later on it changes to huge rats. Gradually one can notice that their diet of late starts including small animals like rabbits and even birds like chicken. Although they have a gentle nature, yet people cannot pet them just because of their size.

Reticulate and Green Tree Pythons:-

The brown colored reticulate pythons generally have black or tanning like marks all over. The average length of these pythons is noticed to be around 35 feet with an immensely heavy body. Obviously they are not meant for taming, and one can rarely spot them. These pythons are found in dense forests and close to marshy and swampy water bodies. Their appetite is the same as it is of the Burmese pythons, but the only difference one can notice is in the quantity. According to its size, it gulps in large quantities. If you feel that you are daring enough to tame them then believe me, do not give it a second thought as it is considered illegal in most of the places and secondly only professionals can pet this terrible animal.

One can notice an interesting fact when it comes to green tree pythons, at the time of birth, these are generally yellow in color and as they gain maturity, they turn green. At times they stay yellow only or can gain a shade of blue. This attractive snake is very aggressive and is a lover of catching its prey all by its own. The maximum length observed in these snakes is approximately 6 feet. They love to feast on rodents and similar stuff found on the trees. Although it is risky to pet a green tree snake, but for person who has already owned snakes it will be a fun thing to do.

Carpet Pythons:-

Carpet pythons are of two types i.e. jungle carpet and coastal carpet pythons. Jungle carpet pythons basically have a black base with tanned yellow blotches and a length of maximum 7 feet. Taming them is not so easy but if you deal with them with ample of care, attention and handling then they can be great attractive pets. Secondly, the coastal carpet pythons which are subtle by nature and have dark and light brown patches. They make great pets and have an average length ranging between 7 to 10 feet.

Although, most of the pythons hold aggressive temperaments yet it is fun to tame them. The only thing one needs to keep in mind is that those pythons have highly haughty temperaments and immensely heavy body should be avoided for safety reasons.
