Nowadays Reptiles are quite admired by people as a pet. It is essential to fulfill certain requirements of your pet reptile. One such requirement is a reptile incubator for your pet. Reptile incubators are devices used to provide an ideal environment for reptile eggs. It is used to hatch reptile eggs. It protects the reptile eggs from foreign bodies. Incubators come in wide range of styles that can be simple and inexpensive or expensive and urbane. The incubator you choose is totally dependent on the type of reptile.

Types of reptile incubators:

  1. Chicken egg incubators: It is quite inexpensive type of reptile incubator. The temperature of this type of incubator can be adjusted with a lever on the outer surface of it.
  2. Home made incubators: In some case, they are more efficient than the chicken egg incubator. As the name suggest, one can easily design this type of incubator at his home. To design this at home one requires around 6 inch deep plastic food container with a lid. Fill the container one third with clean and non toxic soil then place the eggs tenderly on the soil. Keep the incubator at the room temperature until the eggs hatch and Pierce several large holes in the lid.
  3. Reptile farm incubators: As the name suggests, it is mostly used by breeders and farm. This type of reptile incubator is more expensive and sensitive. It has great temperature and environment controller and can rotate the eggs of need to be. It is used to hatch large number of eggs at a same time.

Every reptile requires different temperature to get its eggs hatch. Some reptile eggs can hatch in some degrees temperature whereas; other eggs can require high degree temperature to hatch. If the eggs are incubated at a low temperature then the young reptiles will tend to be small and weak which will turn it inactive. While high temperature can lead to death of the young reptile. Therefore, it is essential o keep the eggs on normal temperature in the reptile incubator. Eggs should be kept alone for a long period of time. It is a good idea to use clear reptile incubator as it will help you to check the eggs without disturbing them. If you have non transparent incubator then you have to remove the lid of it once a week.

Sometimes eggs hatch in a day or two and some time it can take 60 – 90 days to hatch. There is a chance that the egg doesn’t get catch it might because of pathogenic or infertility. Incubating reptile eggs can be a frustrating, if the eggs took some months to hatch. One requires patience and adequate knowledge for the incubation process. Generally eggs take one month time to hatch. One should research as much as possible to improve incubation success. You can get wide variety of incubation information from the internet, reptile manuals, literature and individual reptile breeding experience. Reptile incubator enables one to monitor the development of the reptile eggs more closely.
