Animal lovers love to keep their favorite animals as pets. But while keeping pets they are supposed to be well aware of all about pet diseases that can affect their loving pets. In fact to ensure good health, pet owners are required to be cautious about the health of their dear pets. As a pet owner you are required to be highly cautious about the behavioral and physical appearance of the pet. Diseases can be easily cured if they are diagnosed at an early stage. There are many diseases that do not show up symptoms unless they are at an advanced stage. So, you are always recommended to take care of your pet for a routine check up to a veterinary clinic. Pet Disease Symptoms
Cat – As a cat owner you must know that there are several breeds of cats that do not show any noticeable symptoms of disease. If affected by pet disease, cats generally experience lameness, lethargy, loss of appetite, feverish, fatigue, damage of eyesight, heart related disorders and also irregular breathing habits.
Dogs – Dogs also experience lameness if affected by joint pain, irregular eating habits like either undergoing loss of appetite or eating voraciously. They would seem to be in a confused state, fever between 103 degree to 105 degree F and sometimes even neurological disorders like aggression, seizures can be seen in dogs. Hear disorders and kidney failures are also quite common among dogs.
Cattle – Apart from the above mentioned diseases in dogs and cats, cattle disease symptoms also include development of rash in the udder. Disease causing germs can also be present in the urine, milk and colostrums of the cattle.
Horses – Horses show up symptoms like lameness, depression and loss of appetite, loss of vision, repeated abortion, encephalitis, irregulars like too much tilting of head, aimless wandering and such.
The following are some tips on taking care of pets in order to keep them away from being affected by pets.
- Keep your pet dog, cat or cattle out of reach of ticks. Spray tick killing insecticides containing chemicals like ermethrins and pyrethrins to eradicate tick infection. But be careful while applying insecticides as some species of animals can be sensitive towards such chemicals.
- Never treat your pet with several insect repellants as this can counter act on the pet and make it sick.
- Do not allow your pet to go close to the tick habitat. Grassy, shrubby and wooded areas are the natural habitats of ticks. Mow grassy areas are to be cleaned daily.
- Serve food and water in a clean and germ free container so as to avoid contamination of food and water.
- Update yourself with all the vaccinations that your pet would be in need. Do not try to skip any vaccination schedule for initiating good health of your pet.
Go for a detailed research on the ideal diet for your pet. A balanced diet for your pet would ensure healthy immune system which would keep the animal free from bacterial and viral attacks. You may consult a doctor as well while making the diet chart for your pet.
