Cattery

Cattery is a place where cats are housed temporarily. When the pet owners are at not at home or they are on tour for longer time, cattery is the safest option for their pet cats.

Cats are the pet animals that have a tendency to fall sick frequently. Most of the pet owners cannot pay attention to their pets due to their busy schedule. Negligence to the pet cat makes them weak and delicate. As human care centers, now cats too have their care centers. Cattery is a type of care center for cats.

Cattery is of two types

• Breeding cattery
• Boarding cattery

• Breeding cattery
  Breeding cattery is where cats are bred. In this cattery, cats are bred as a hobby or on a commercial basis, they are sold for profits. A specific location is selected for the breeding cattery, where the cats can feel comfortable and safe. Try to keep the cattery with a good ventilation system. This will help the cat to stay fresh and healthy. Wash and clean the litter boxes frequently. Clean the cattery on daily basis to avoid any types of diseases. Build a cattery with the cages. This will protect the small kittens from the attack of the aggressive males.
• Boarding cattery
  A boarding cattery is where cats are housed temporarily. It is for the pet owners who are busy and so cannot take care of their pets. They drop their pet cat in cattery and take them away when they return back. Nowadays, there are many catteries coming up due to the higher demand for it. People are becoming aware of the advantages of the cattery. While selecting the cattery for the pet cat follow the below guidelines

Good cattery design

• Check whether the cat accommodation has a separate enclosed area where the cat can sleep.
• There has to be a safety door or double doors which can prevent the cats to escape from the main cattery door.
• The cattery should be designed in such a way that there is no contact with the other animals outside the cattery.
• Good ventilation system should be present to avoid any air borne diseases. A proper cattery height should be maintained for the cats to jump and play.

Good cattery management

• A good management is where the proprietor asks for lots of information about the pet while taking the booking. The information would consist of age, sex, breed (if applicable), special marks on the pet, eating habits, likes and dislikes.
• He/ she should ask for the cat’s medical history. Provide the name and the number of the regular pet veterinarian. This can be helpful for the cattery vet to contact the regular vet in case of emergency
• A consent form has to be signed if the cat requires medication during its stay.

Vaccination
All catteries provide vaccination against cat flu so that the cat remains healthy. In catteries, many cats of different breeds are present. They can be infected with different types of diseases. One should check whether the required vaccination is given to the pets.

Food and cleanliness
Check for the cleanliness of the cattery. The litter boxes have to be cleaned frequently. Check the quality and the quantity of food given to the cats.

Cats are the delicate pets. They require immense care and love for their growth. Cattery is the best option for the pet owners for the cat’s future healthy life.
