Pet Groomer

Pet GroomerPet groomer is a trained professional who takes care of the pet by brushing the pet’s teeth, shampooing and trimming pet’s hair, drying them and also maintain their hygiene, comfort and appearance. These groomers use variety of tools, including brushes, special scissors, and shampoos that kill external parasites.

Choosing a pet groomer is similar to choosing a hair stylist. The only difference is the pet is left in the groomer’s care and cannot communicate the type of treatment he/she is receiving. There are certain things to follow while selecting any particular groomer for the pet. Many people think all groomer are same and so they just take the pet to the groomer which is nearby their house. They don’t know what type of instruments and products they use. So follow these guidelines before selecting a groomer for your pet.

In large corporate salons, pets are well groomed, but it is always recommended to opt for a private small well maintained salon. The large corporate salons focus on quantity rather than quality. Their appointments are full; they have a busy schedule, so the pet groomers don’t pay enough attention on any particular pet. They just are in hurry for finishing their work. Many of groomers begin working there as a starter. They do not have any experience of handling the pets. So it is very risky to leave pet in their hands. In small grooming salon, the pets are attended personally and are taken care with a good service.

Some important guidelines to be considered while enrolling your pet for a particular pet grooming salon:

  • Take an appointment with the groomer. While doing it, provide appropriate information to the groomer about pet and the things that need to be groomed.
  • Some groom shops differ in vaccine information they require prior to grooming. A good groomer will ask for health information of the pet to avoid any infection to other pets.
  • A good groomer should clip nails, clean ears and other services too must be provided. He/she can give the ideas for grooming which suits best for the pet. He/she should be a good listener.
  • Price should be discussed before the groomer start working on the pet. Things like matt, complicated cut styles, condition of the pet and extra services such as nail polish, flea dips, all may affect the price. Difficult behavior of the pet may also increase the price but that isn’t found out until after the groom begins.
  • Expect to leave the pet animal to a pet groomer for at least an hour, but it could take more than that. Discuss the time with the groomer.
