Raising Homing Pigeons
Nowadays pigeons are quite admired by people as a pet because raising homing pigeons is not a difficult task to do. All you need to do is to provide basic requirements and care to your pigeon in order to make them feel comfortable. Raising homing pigeons is not only a hobby but a good way to earn as well.
Primarily, one should keep their paired pigeon in one room to mate. If they are not paired then keep together an equal number of male and female to mate. One should provide clean coop, water and food to those pigeons. Sick or sick looking pigeons should be kept away from other pigeons. It is significant for one to scatter leaves in the coop of their pigeon before the mother pigeon lays eggs. Pigeon feeding: It is a good idea to feed grains to raise homing pigeon. Make sure that the grains you feed to your pigeon is a whole grain, it should not be fine or powdered Moreover, it should be from molds, weevil, pest or damage. Corn, sorghum, soybean, rice, or legume seeds are good option to serve. Food should be kept at a place where they can eat all day. It is a good idea to allow them to eat freely until they hatch their eggs. Chicks require plenty of healthy food to grow.
Housing for homing pigeon: One should provide proper housing to their homing pigeon so that they can breed properly. It should be airy but not drafty. An elevated loft is essential for one to provide to their adult pigeon. Proper nest should be provided to them in order to keep their eggs safely. One should provide them clean sand to roll and pick up small shells and stones.
Baths: It is significant for one to provide bathing container to their adult pigeon as they love to take baths. Container should be 7.5 cm deep so that your pigeon can bathe easily. When pigeons bathe frequently, they become strong and immune against pests, so they should be given bath 2 or 3 times a week. One should protect them from other pests and diseases and consult a veterinarian on time.
To raise homing pigeon successfully certain requirements must be continually fulfilled. The requirements such as proper food, essential minerals, nest, water, nesting materials and housing should be fulfilled. Otherwise bird will not be able reproduce. Failure to fulfill these requirements can further result in complications while raising homing pigeon.
