Some Salt Water Fish Breeds:

  • Angel fish are perfect as saltwater pets for expert fish owners. The fish has a regal majesty and for its healthy survival it needs good quality water. Angel fish is highly sensitive towards the changes of ph level of the water as a result of which the water of the aquarium should be changed on a regular basis. They also need sufficient amount of light. In fact, angel fish are perfect for big aquariums that have enough lighting facilities as well as a good green cover of algae. In wild angel fish can grow up to 30 to 45 cms in length and about 15 in captivity.
  • The bat fish grows to a giant size of about 25 to 30 cms in size even in captivity. This fish can grow long with other fish and loves to swim alone unhindered. The size of the fish depends upon how well they are fed. They are omnivorous in nature and so you may feed it with any food item suitable for fish.

    The fish is generally bought small in size and when as a baby is often battered by other fish as its large size in adulthood is the only means of protection of this fish.

  • Box fish varieties are extremely cute in appearance. Their exterior is a hard cover and becomes soft only in the areas close to the eyes, fins and tails. One big caution while letting the fish swim with other fish inside the aquarium is that this breed of fish emits toxic substances when it feels itself to be under threat. Even though it happens quite rarely but if it at all happens then this may result complete wipeout of all the other fish of the aquarium. So, while selecting its cohabitants make sure of having detailed information regarding the variety of breeds that you should be purchasing along with it.
  • Shark variety of fish is not actually the marine shark that takes away arms or legs of human beings. These fish are named as sharks as they are very active and they have swimming patterns much similar to the original sharks. This variety of fish is peaceful in nature but may often be a bully for any odd fish in the aquarium.
  • Hawk Fish are very peaceful predatory fish. Make sure of not putting them together with small variety of fish. They are very alert and active just like hawks. They do not move often and mainly stay close to rocks and big stones and seem as if they are watching the entire world with their eyes.
  • Gobby fish are ideal for aquarium life as they have high range of compatibility with other fish. They can also be easily fed. The fish is of small tube shaped of approximate size of about 5 to 10 cms in length. They are drably colored but some of them are brightly colored as well. They spent most of the time in the sand and some of them even stay in small caves or coral branches.
